After graduating from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Sophie Nwabunike started Pherla Nuba in a small space on the staircase of her father’s house. She began with nothing but passion, a deep longing to feel confident in her skin, and a growing desire to create pieces that could express emotion without saying a word.

For as long as she can remember, Sophie has loved to dress well. This is not for attention but for alignment. She has always seen clothing as a language and a means to carry herself through the world, regardless of how she feels.

Whether she is bold, soft, dramatic, or simple, one thing never changes. She wants to feel put together, feminine, and confident, and she wants that for every woman.

Pherla Nuba was born out of a desire to create pieces that evoke emotion, empower presence, and celebrate a woman’s journey. Her goal has never been to chase trends or mass-produce beauty. She designs with intention because she believes every woman’s body is unique and every mood deserves its silhouette.
